Genealogy Society, 1998. 4-30-1891 SUDDEN DEATH Mr. David Coates, an aged and highly respected citizen of this (Pleasant) township, met with a very sudden death, at his home, east of Kenton, on Tuesday, April 21st [1891]. He had been in ill health for several weeks, but nothing serious was apprehended by his family. His wife had gone into a field near by to gather a few greens for dinner. She was absent about fifteen minutes, and on returning to the house found her husband lying on the bed dead. His death was due to heart failure. The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon of last week. Deceased was born in Richmond county, Va., June 15, 1820. ---- Good Hope Cemetery: Section 3 Row 15 David Coats b. 6/15/1820 Richmond Co., VA. d. 4/21/1891 age 70 yr. married to Emily Jane Mason 12/16/1853.
