Hi Listers: I sent a message some time ago asking for some kind hearted soul to do a look up for me in the Hardin Co. Ohio 1860 Census. I received no replies so I am asking again-----Please. My great grandparents lived in Mount Victory, Hardin County in February, 1858 and therefore should have been in the 1860 census. Their names were John R (AKA) Jackson and Rhoda K. Wilson Griffith. They were married in February and their son, Wilson David was born in December, 1858. Please e-mail me at slybirdge@worldnet.att.net Thank you. Geraldine Allen in Seattle
Hi List, I joined this list a while back, but forgot I had done so and don't beleive I posted what I was looking for. My MAGAN/MAGANN/McGANN family stayed mostly is Nelson County, Virginia, but some moved to Hardin Co., Ohio (my great, great grandfather's brothers- Alexander Pleasant & Joseph MAGANN). My great grandfather, Calvin S. MAGANN had a first marriage, but not in any surrounding county here. He was born, lived, & died in VA, but spoke of Ohio kin when my mother was young. Perhaps his first marriage took place in Ohio. Also, one of his daughters was first married in Nelson County to a man from Ohio- William John MYERS (age 27 in 1919- son of William J. & Lizzie MYERS). I'm seeking what Ohio ties my family may have. (The name Magann has also been found as Megann & Megan with many variations.) I have trouble with my yahoo account bouncing mail- my primary e-mail account is: wmb@lynchburg.net Thank you, Janet B. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Thank you Linda..........I can't tell you how many times I have asked that question and you are the first to answer it for me. There is a microfilm listed for the Hardin County Republican for the years I am interested in. Not sure that Benjamin and James Rightmire's obituaries will be there but at least I will be able to say I looked. Thanks Alice
I am interested in the surname OVERFIELD in Hardin County.
Hi Alice, The Ohio Historical Society has a large microfilm collection of old newspapers that are available on interlibrary loan. To see what is available, go to: http://www.ohiohistory.org/ar_tools.html and click on Newspaper Index. Don't insist that your library get the film from the Ohio Historical Society, because sometimes they can find the same film at a cheaper loan rate from someone else. At least you will know that what you are requesting exists somewhere. I am not sure what luck you will have with finding an obituary in the 1860's, but it is worth a try. As for me, I am on the Hardin Co. list also. Right now I am concentrating on Fairfield, Franklin, and Licking Counties but I am watching to see if anyone is working on the families that tied in with the Coats and Mason families in Hardin Co. Some of the surnames are Kiser, Kidd, Borland, Fletcher, Castor, Bowman, Butcher, Linke, Morrison, Koons, Overly, Kaiser, Morgan, Armstrong, Baker, Shilling, Davis, Spitzer, Fisher, and Fewell/Feule to name a few. Thank you all for sending notes, I'm so glad I wasn't alone on the list. Saw several good suggestions. I went last spring to Hardin Co. for research and was very impressed, beautiful country, I found Kenton a very friendly, nicely kept small town. I saw so many things that I'd wished I'd had time do, some fantastic old homes. But most of all I found the people and the Library so very helpful. I did copy some info example I have entire list of Lee's and Morrison Cemetery and some pages from marriage records etc. I will try and post some of this info from time to time in case it might help some of you other guys. I'll run my list of people again also. I have company coming this week and we live on a farm so weather dictates my time a lot. Thanks for answering. Good hunting to all Sandy evhfaler@totelcsi.net

Over the past several years that I've been on this newsgroup, there have been occasional spurts of activity but most of the time it's very quiet. Just for the record, I'm looking for LITTLETON and SWISHER lines. Terry Littleton

I am a descendant of John TAPP, who, with his family, including his son, my great grandfather, Charles M. TAPP, Sr., came to the Hardin and Logan County, OH, area, from Culpeper County, VA, in 1848. Charles, Sr., married Rebecca SUTTON, daughter of Walter Warder SUTTON and Catherine Jane NEIGHBARGER, in 1860. Their son, Charles M. TAPP, Jr., my grandfather, married Cora May LeVALLY, and they lived in the Mt. Victory area, and are buried in Bokes Creek Cemetery, near Mt. Victory. They had 3 children, including my father, Franklin W(arder) TAPP, born in 1904, died in 1971. Seeking contact with other descendants of Charles M. TAPP, Sr., and Rebecca SUTTON. Thank you, Cora TAPP Henricks Louisville, KY CTHENRICKS@aol.com
