    2. John R. Stacy
    3. Shadrick Stacy lived in the McGuffey area in the early 1900's (1915 for sure), but we don't know what happened to him after that. I'm assuming Kenton would have a genealogy section in thier library, is there a better library to go for McGuffey area information? Is there a website for genealogy items in that area? Thank you - John

    3. We just posted a rather extensive history of the Hardin County Infirmary which we copied from a History of Hardin County (the full text of which can be found on the internet at the Heritage Pursuits website)... on the Ohio page of The POORHOUSE STORY website (a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American poorhouses) at http://www.poorhousestory.com (This excerpt includes the names of many of the officials involved with the administration of that facility.) Many of you may have visited the site recently; so when you get there you may need to click REFRESH on your browser to see the new photo. For those new to the site: DIRECTIONS: at the homepage (link above) click on POORHOUSES BY STATE, then click on OTHER STATES, then click on OHIO on the table of states. If you scroll down past the pictures, you will see a link to this page with a yellow NEW arrow pointing to it. Hope you enjoy! Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)

I recently learned that my great- >grandparents were buried there and would like to visit the cemetery on >our >next trip back to Ohio. I believe the "Old Roundhead Cemetery" is the one at the edge of town, and the "New Roundhead Cemetery" is a few hundred feet down the road (County Road 190). You will probably come into town on State Route 235 or 117; County Road 190 goes east off of 235 when 235 takes a 90-degree turn to the north. The entire town is very small, but if you would like to ask direrctions while there, there is a grocery store in the center of town, a block from the "Old" cemetery. The "New" cemetery is on the south side of the road with a U-shaped drive. I am not a very good judge of distance, but I would say by the way the driveway is laid out, you would never have to walk more than 50 feet to any one stone. There are old pines and a slight hill on the eastern side, and the remainder of the cemetery is extremely flat. It is well taken care of and still an "active" cemetery, meaning that people are still being laid to rest there. It is not a large cemetery, I would classify it as having three sections. My grandparents and one set of gr-grandparents are buried there (FLEECE), might I ask who your family is? 3. Judy Thanks so much for just looking up our surnames without us even asking. hee hee Since you live there and obviously know the nooks and cranies to look in, maybe you can help me out. I was in Kenton about three years ago and spent two very productive days with Jennie Bostetler (sp?). We found lots of LITTLETON stuff BUT at the time, I really wasn't looking for this one particular person. But for the past year or two, I have been trying to find him but with NO LUCK. Charles William Littleton b 18 Oct 1831 Clarke Co, OH d 29 Mar 1908. He is listed in the 1850 Hardin Co, Census living with his mother, Elizabeth Ann Littleton Vansky. That is the last time I have been able to find mention of him. That's the problem. The mother (deceased) of a descendant of the Edgar and Elinor Littleton you posted in your first surname list last night gave my father (deceased) the death date of 29 Mar 1908 back in the early 1980's. This cousin of mine and I have not been able to figure out where she got this date from. All of Charles's siblings died in Hardin Co. Daniel Jackson Littleton d 1914, George Washington Littleton d 1909, and Ruth Ester Littleton Fultz d 1917. Since Charles was the first sibling to die, he naturally isn't mentioned in any of his siblings obits. We have NOT been able to find a DC or obit in Hardin Co for Charles and Ohio didn't start keeping state records until the end of 1908. So the problem is I have a death date but no PLACE. Without a death place, I can't track down any of his descendants. The other problem is we lost our house and everything in it (all paper genealogy records) in a fire last Feb. I did have a copy of the will and estate papers of I believe some of the Vanskys that named all living heirs. Elizabeth Ann Littleton remarried Samuel P Vansky in 1841, had 4 kids then he died 20 Mar 1850 in Hardin Co. Elizabeth THEN married a Henry Hatfield in 1851 (no kids that I know of) and Henry died 8 May 1862 in the Civil War in McDowell, VA. Possibly there is a will or estate papers in Hardin Co for these two other husbands that will show heirs and there whereabouts including Charles William. If he indeed did die in 1908, he very likely married and had kids. I need to find them. Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated. I'll gladly reimburse you for any expenses or postage, etc. Tell Jeannie Hi from me. Did you ever get a place for all the records? If I remember right, you had them all stored in a trailer and were looking for a building for the Genealogy Society. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer - Terry Littleton (sponsor of LITTLETON-L@rootsweb.com) tlturbo@aol.com
