Hi Group, Does anyone have any knowledge about a Hardin County or Kenton baseball and basketball team, from about the 1930's or so. I've been told that my grandfather, Ivan Powell Johnson, coached these teams and signed Satchel Paige to his first pro contract. I'm just trying to verify this story. Thanks, Tom Johnson http://tjsonline.homestead.com/myleaf.html

Anyone connected out there to a General John Ross who died in Hardin County in 1848? Or perhaps a William or John Robb who both died in the county prior to 1850? William had a son named Samuel and a daughter named Dorcus. They were siblings to a Logan County, Ohio bunch. I have not found anyone who is connected in 5 years to the General John Ross and have been told that he has a fairly new headstone, meaning someone with a connection must have paid for it. Would love to correspond with all ROSS and ROBB researchers in the county as they must be connected as far back as 1840. They probably came from somewhere in Pennsylvania. Thanks to all who responded regarding my post for birth/death dates/locations for the above names. I have found Jack DAUER's death cert on the OH Historical Society's site. It finally dawned on me I could do a search with just a first name. I found a Jack "O"auer who died in Stark Co., in 1932, also a stillborn son "Stillso" Dauer who died on 12\28\1921. I've sent for these records and am still looking for the rest. But this bit of forward momentum has given me hope. Thanks again to everyone who responded with links and tips for my search. I knew I could count on members of these lists for help. Good luck to everyone in their searches. Hi Listers - I was wondering if anybody is researching lines that might have migrated from Tuscawarus or Harrison County OH around the 1850s? My ancestor, Samuel Moore, settled in the northwest corner of Hardin County about that time for no apparent reason, so I was curious if others did also. Hello Everyone, Trying to locate a birth cert for both Ethel Mae GARWOOD born 2/12/1912, parents Mason Garwood and Charilla DeLong. Family says she was born in Hardin Co., but they have no record, neither did the health dept in Stark Co. (they were very busy the day I was there). Another family record says she was born in Williamstown (Billtown) that would be Hancock Co. and have not had a chance to contact their health dept. Her first born, Jack Edward Dauer, father John J. Dauer was born and died in 1932, can't pin the date down more than that. John and Ethel were possibly living in Canton when Jack was born, but he is buried in the Garwood plot in Greenlawn Cemetery in Ada. All their other kids were born in Canton. Stark Co. library couldn't find and entry that he was born or died there. He only lived about 6 mths. Any help is appreciated in pinning down these dates and locations. Hello Everyone, I was at the Hardin Co Library on my last visit home in September and remember seeing cemetery transcriptions. I can't recall if there was one for Huntersville Cemetery. I'd like to get a copy of this cemetery transcription if possible. If someone has any information, I'd greatly appreciate it. My Dad was at the cemetery again this past winter and found the grave I was looking for (Sidney Gregg-Garwood) but I'd like to know who else is at this cemetery. It wasn't very big and set off SR309 on the north side and down a side road a bit and nothing said it was Huntersville Cemetery. I didn't realize it was until I got back to CA and have regretted not taking the extra time to look around a bit more when I was there AARARRRGGGHHHH!! Dad says there is a marker at what used to be the roadside rest that tells a bit of Huntersville History. Is there anything else that might give a bit more information? Any leads or help is surely appreciated.
