    1. Tingle graves, etc.
    2. Does anyone know of a tombstone for Samuel P. Tingle, who died in 1861, or a tombstone for any other Tingle? Samuel P. Tingle resided in Hardin Co. at the time of his death, and had established and/or pastored churches in various locations in Hardin Co. and elsewhere. An obit would be great, of course, but I think it more likely that a subscriber to this list might be able to find out about a grave. Any assistance would be appreciated. David Shaw

    1. POORHOUSE Information
    2. Poor House Lady
    3. We would like to invite you to revisit The POORHOUSE STORY website (a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American poorhouses)at http://www.poorhousestory.com where we have jusst posted a WONDERFUL illustration of the HARDIN County Infirmary. We need some additional information to identify the source of this illustration so that we can credit it properly. It appears to be an illustration from a book. But in our recent loss of e-mail, we lost the e-mail which accompanied its submission to us. If anyone has information about this, we would appreciate hearing from you. The illustration seems somewhat romanticized (the proportions are very lofty for a building which was likely in a fairly rural area because of the adjoining barn)... so further information and perhaps a photograph (if the building survived into an era in which photographs were taken) would be greatly appreciated. If you have recently visited our site, you will need to click REFRESH on your browser to see the new material. If you are new to the site, DIRECTIONS: at the homepage (link above)click on POORHOUSES BY STATE and then click on OHIO on the table of states and then click on HARDIN on the table of counties. You will find the illustration at the top of the page. There are other pages on PHS which can help you gain a better understanding of poorhouses; they are all linked off the homepage (left side) and include: HISTORY page, LETTER TO GENEALOGISTS, and FEATURED ARTICLES. Our information will only grow through the suggestions and submissions of readers like you! If you wish to e-mail me, please do so off-list (because I cannot maintain subscriptions to all the lists to which we post)... and include in the subject line the name of the state and county with which you are concerned. Hope you enjoy! Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)

    3. Posted on: Hardin Co. Oh Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Oh/Hardin/10070 Surname: Hites, Hatfield ------------------------- First of all you can get quite an argument whether all the Hite and Hites are common relatives. That being said there is a Susan Hite"S" married to a Nelson Hatfield, he was born I believe in 1813. There are two or three marriages between the Hites family and the Hatfield's. I don't have my files handy right now but the Hites are a clannish bunch who tended to move in mass to an area. Hardin, Co. OH and Butler Co. IA as examples. Hope this helps. My well of information is not too deep but on the Hites family I'm fairly well informed. You can contact me at bapinfl@yahoo.com
