Carol, Thanks very much for the lookup. Is the Master Index you mentioned for one particular Roundhead Twp. cemetery (e.g. New Roundhead Cemetery on CR 190)? Or is it the index for all Roundhead Twp. cemeteries? I am interested in which cemetery George W. Wilcox and family are buried and in any dates given in the index. My ancestor's pension application mentions George W. Wilcox but I don't know how he is related. Thanks again. Jeff Birdsley ------------------------------------------- I have the Master index for Roundhead Twp cemetery and it lists a George W (with GAR marker), Martha, his wife and son Artie. No other Wilcox listings. Carol B
Dear Listmembers: I'm writing today regarding Adoption Searches, as to how one may apply it to Genealogy Research. Most adoptees and/or birthparents and other extended family eventually search for their missing family members. As a reunited adoptee myself, I now help others to search and reunite. I am often hired by birthmothers and siblings of adoptees to locate their missing/lost family member for them. Adoptees are very concerned with past generations of family history. Even tracing death certificates is quite helpful to an adoptee when filling out a medical history form in their doctors office (those who haven't traced their family of origin have nothing to write on their health forms). The state of Ohio has a Birth Index and Supplemental List. My information covers 1959 through 1989 and was purchased through Vital statistics in Columbus, Ohio. Those who require assistance may contact me directly. Birth Indexes list all babies born on a given DOB in any area of Ohio, used by adoptees to learn their name at birth, enabling them to locate their family of origin. Supplemental Lists are the name changes or amended names of the adopted, used by birthmothers and other family members to locate an adoptee by their current adopted name. I'd like to invite anyone with an interest in adoption to join my Ohio Triad mailing list. Reading the archived digests will provide links and addresses to information concerning Ohio and the many public records available. Information, resources, databases are available at very reasonable cost. Sincerely, E. Kimble Reunited Adoptee Ohio Adoption Searcher CMHEGO@aol.com TOUCHEDbyADOPTION@yahoogroups.com
Hi Carol B Our records indicate that John Hites is buried in the Roundhead cemetery. We visited 20 cemeteries this Memorial week and were searching for John Hites. We went first to a small cemetery in Roundhead not knowing there was another outside of he town. When we came back through we searched there also but were unable to locate the gravesite. Perhaps we were just too tired having tried to visit 65 graves. At any rate if you would be so kind to let us know if John Hites and his wife (Elizabeth "Betsy" Bowers) might be listed we certainly would be most grateful. We get "down home" from northern Ohio occasionally. But might make a special trip just to put flowers on our ancestor's grave. Again thanks for any help. I am searching for the gravesite of my 3-gr-grandfather Daniel Wilcox who was a veteren of the Civil War (82nd OVI). He died Oct 1872, in Roundhead twp., Hardin Co., according to his widow's pension application. I have two questions: 1. Is Daniel Wilcox listed in the Roundhead twp. cemetery inscriptions compiled by the Hardin Co. Genealogy Society? I understand this publication has a section on veteren records. Does anyone have access to this publication? 2. Did the WPA compile a list of veteren burials in Hardin Co. as they did in other places in the 1930s? Any help appreciated! Jeff Birdsley

My gr gr gr aunt was Ida ORAHOOD, born 1867 probably in Union Co. I found a marriage record for Ida ORAHOOD and Albert F. JOHNSON in Union Co. 1888. And they're buried together in Union Co., his death in 1900 and hers in 1955. But the obituary for her sister (in 1947) calls her Mrs. Ida ARGO of Kenton. Does anyone know of an ARGO who married Ida ORAHOOD JOHNSON? VERY interested in any other Orahoods, too. Jeanne jcrews@eriecoast.com
