I am researching the Bazaleel Downing family who came from MD to Logan County and some migrated to Hardin Co. I am also looking for William Downing who came from MD abt 1838-1840 and lived in northern Ohio before settling in Shelby Co. I believe that William was born abt 1809 in MD. I don't know his parents names. His children included Nancy Louise, Mary Anna, Susan,Lydia, Sarah Jane and possibly a James or William.

Surnames: Johnston Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DWB.2ACE/105 Message Board Post: Looking for information about this family. They have lived in Hastings MN, Kenton OH, Diamond Bluff, WI. I think that is the order they live din those locations. I am hoping somebody could do a lookup in the census for me to locate William and Jonathan Johnston as younger men or children so I can locate their parents and any other siblings. William and his wife Louisa show up in the Ohio 1880 census with their sons Benton b. 1862 and Robert. William is reported in the 1880 census as born in Delaware. Benton is reported as born in Ohio, but his death certificate says he was born in Hastings, MN. I could sure use some help in finding out if there are any other Johnston families in the 1880 Ohio census that may provide a clue, as the Johnston family lived in Kenton for a number of years before moving to Wisconsin. William was born in 1829 possibly Delaware and died in 1896 in Wisconsin. Thanks!! Connie connie_naylor@yahoo.com

Hello, I have a listing of obits in my possession at the following link: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohwyand2/jane_irwin/obits.htm As the description says, these are not all related to my personal research, but are salvaged from some late 70's newspapers ( Kenton Times and Daily Chief Union, Upper Sandusky) that my Dad found in a summer kitchen. As I am a packrat and addicted to this hobby, I indexed the obits from these papers along with those I have copies of from my research. I am out of state and hope that these may prove useful to a fellow researcher. Please check out the index, then just email me with request for copy of the obit. NOTE: again, these are all I have. From what I understand the big argument between the names was of a religious nature, which always causes trouble. Bob

Surnames: SCOTT Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DWB.2ACE/103 Message Board Post: I am researching the SCOTT family. Lewis Scott married Sarah Niel (possibly O'Niel? which is spelled MANY different ways). She is said to be his second wife, the first having been unknown. There is some evidence the first wife may have been born in Germany, and/or her name may have been Sarah also (just a theory at this point). Lewis and Sarah Scott were living with children: Sterling-13, Philander-11, Amanda-9, Lydia-3, Mary M.-1, in the 1850 Hardin County Census, Buck Township. Also living with them was a 93-year old Joseph Scott, possibly Lewis' father. The History of Hardin County Ohio published in 1883 describes a Joseph Scott who served in the War of 1812 and was a pioneer of Hardin County, moving to Buck Township, Hardin County in 1830. The book also says Joseph had a son James Scott born in Franklin County Ohio in 1799 (Lewis' brother??) and that Joseph died in Fulton County Indiana in 1853. James Scott's son was William J. Scott, a prominent Hardin County citizen who served the Buck Township in a number of capacities. Lewis & Sarah Scott and (even more)children show up in the Paulding County Ohio Census in 1860 & 1870, then Defiance County Ohio in 1880. I would love to work with others researching this Scott line. Please get in touch! Thanks!!
Would anyone have info on John Freed b. 1817 and Leah Dubbs b. 1823. They were living in Van Buren Twp., Hancock Co in the 1880 census. Leah Dubbs has Hardin Co ties, so could be buried in Hardin Co. Would like to find death and burial dates for them. Do not know if they had any children, have not checked the earlier census yet. They married Sep 1839 in Stark Co Ohio so would presume there were children. Thanks for any help Sue
