I am pretty sure you are asking about my 3rd great grandfather's brother Jeremiah F. Skates. I do not know much about him except that he was born 18 May 1800. He was on the 1830 census in Franklin County, Montgomery Twp. (same page as his brother William. Are you a cousin? I believe we are looking at the same Lewis Scott. I had since found the marriage of Lewis SCOTT and Mahala BENNETT in 1836 in Union County and believe this is my Lewis Scott. Lewis SCOTT married his second wife Sarah NEAL in Hardin County in 1846, so Mahala would have died by then. I have wondered if perhaps she died in childbirth. Based on these dates, I believe Lewis' first three children (Sterling, Philander, Amanda) to be Mahala's. How do you descend? And, can you tell me where I can find the estate record of Mahala's father? Another tidbit: I have seen postings on the Internet that an Ira BENNETT married Elizabeth Betsey SCOTT in 1829 Union County. Do you know if Ira and Mahala are related? Elizabeth Betsey SCOTT may be the sister of Lewis SCOTT. Please email me directly: bonniekane@netzero.net Thanks for getting in touch!

I sent for the Civil War Pension file of Michael Tuorrey born about 1837 died 6 Feb 1913 in Forest, Hardin Co, Ohio, (husband of Sarah C. Stovenour). Michael was the brother of my great grandfather Patrick Leonard Touhy. Leonard was said to be his mother's maiden name. The Touhys spelled their name many different ways, but I had never seen Tuorrey until I got the pension file. Pat and Mike both enrolled in Co A, 10 NY Cavalry on 10 Sept 1864 in Poughkeepsie, NY. They emigrated from Feakle, Co Clare abt 1860. Pat settled near Chicago, had a large family, and Touhy Ave. there is named after him. There was at least another brother named John W. Touhy. I'd be happy to hear from your friend to share more info. Regards, Maryl
