    3. You might find a county history available through the Hardin County Genealogy Society. They have a variety of publications for sale. You could possibly find someone there to check the library as well. Another alternative is http://www.higginsonbooks.com . This company offers reprints of many original county histories, and other books of genealogical interest. I know that they sell histories specific to Hardin County. However, much of what they offer is quite costly, so it will depend upon how much you want the particular book. Good luck, Tom Osborn ----- Original Message ----- From: <DBlake9783@aol.com> To: <OHHARDIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, April 08, 2000 3:05 PM Subject: Ada Village/Buck Township/Liberty Township > I just received the estate files for my aunt and cousin. 3. Alice, I would try using the Hardin County Genealogy Society's materials first since they've done a lot of work on this, but there is a state library you can go to. The Ohio Historical Society maintains a library in Columbus with micro films of state newspapers. Their web site is <www.ohiohistory.org/resource/index.html>. I know you can request some services from them for a fee, such as looking up death certificates, but I don't know if they will search newspapers. It may be possible to hire a private researcher to do this. Lew >In the State where I live the State Historical Society maintains a library that is a repository for the States newspapers. They are on micro film. For a small fee, if you have the death date and place of death, they will search the newspapers for an obituary. Is there something similar in Ohio ? I would like to find obituaries for several people who lived in Hardin County in the 1800's. thanks, Alice

    3. The Hardin County Genealogy Society have many Obituary Books for sale listed on their web page. You could contact them to see if they could check the name indexes for certain individuals. I don't know if they have enough help to actually look for obits and copy them. Maybe if you are lucky, the peope you are looking for have obits in their books they have for sale. 1. Alexander Ferguson (1790 - 1883) OHIO...
    2. Shar & Del
    3. List, It has been some time since I've posted (if at all), and I'm just now getting back into my family tree. If any of you have any of my direct line, as follows, in your family tree, I'd like to hear from you. I've just recently come into a file from a relative that listed William Ferguson's father and where he was located in Ohio. Being a relative novice, I haven't done much searching, except in Marion County (and reached a dead-end), but I plan to widen my searches. I haven't yet incorporated the file into my online genealogy database; however, I'm willing to share pertinent parts of it with anyone interested, via email, until I do update my files. If any of you would like to look at what I already have, please feel free to go to http://www.gemair.com/~delshar and see if we have anything in common. I don't have any commercial advertisements. Any link I have is for something I personally use and recommend. I don't have any idea who, if anyone, does visit. Cheers! By the! way, I'm number 6. 1. Alexander Ferguson 1790 - 1883 (Magheragall/Antrim/Ireland, PENN, Logan Co., OH) Note: Alexander appears in 1840 and 1870 Logan County Census... 2. William Ferguson 1823 - 1897 (PENN, Logan/Hardin/Delaware/Marion Co., OH) Note: William appears in the 1880 Marion County Census... 3. 3. Tom each County History that was published in the 1880's has a large section knows as Biographical Sketches. You can purchase a copy of the 1880 Hardin County History from Higginson Press. You can find their URL on the Heritage Pursuit Web site. When you get to the site click on MUST SEE LINKS and then to Book Stores. Best of luck al http://www.heritagepursuit.com Tom wrote: > Does anyone have, or know of, a copy of the publication "Biographical > Sketches"? 3. Does anyone have, or know of, a copy of the publication "Biographical Sketches"? I think this was printed originally in the latter 19th Century. I know little about it, but it sounds as though it may have been about folks in Kenton, or Hardin Co. in general. In response to a post I made to the Logan Co. list, a gentleman forwarded to me a "biographical sketch" about my 2nd great-grandparents Peter and Susanna (WHITE) CROSS. It just happened that the sketch about Peter & Susanna was on the same page on which this gentleman's ancestor was profiled. Alas, he had only that one page-not the entire book-in his possession. I wish to know if George and Mary (CROSS) OSBORN were profiled in "Biographical Sketches". It goes without saying that any help will be greatly appreciated. Tom Osborn Calif. PS. I thought that I should share that because of that gentleman's generosity, I was able to make quite the breakthrough in my genealogical efforts. I was able to add twelve(!) generations back of Peter & Susanna--back to possibly 1482 in England. The irony is that the info. shared with me was not actually in answer to the query I posted to the Logan Co. list. This gentleman simply had a bit of info. about my own forebears, and thought it might be of interest to me. Was it ever!
