Hello List, I'm new to the list. Am looking for the family of Samuel C. Smith born in Vermont in 1805 moved with his family to Hardin Co. about 1833 or 1834. Samuel C. Smith died April 24, 1854 is buried in Lee's Cemetery, Dudley Twp. First Wife was Lodema do not know her maiden name, she died 11-28-1835 and is buried in Lee's Cemetery. They had one daughter we know of Harriet Smith who married James Wallace in 1856. Believe there were other children to this union. 2nd wife was Rachel B. Emery married 4-28-1836 in Marion Co. Some of the children we found on the 1850 Census Laura, Chester H., Jerusha who married F. R. Young, Lenora B., John C., Samuel J., and Sirena. Part of the family came to Kansas about 1869 and part stayed in Ohio. Looking for any information or contacts to this family. Thank you Sandy in Kansas evhfaler@totelcsi.net

Hi all, I do hope I am still subscribed to this list. Does anyone have access to the Hardin Co 1860 thru 1900 Census? I am trying to locate a Charles William Littleton. He is listed in the 1850 Hardin Co, Census as living with his mother, Elizabeth Ann Littleton and I believe his brother Daniel Jackson Littleton and sister Ruth Ester Littleton but I lost him after that. I have a death date for him from a now deceased relative of 29 Mar 1908 but since that is just before OH started keeping state records, and there is no record of his death in Hardin Co, I have NO IDEA where he died. There are other Charles Littletons in Hardin Co starting about 1889 but they are all Charles D Littletons. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Terry Littleton (sponsor of LITTLETON-L@rootsweb.com newsgroup)
Thanks, Allan, for making this valuable information available. My own gg-grandparents, Peter and Susannah (White) Cross were among those profiled in the sketches. I am wondering if anyone knows how the sketches were compiled. Might volunteers have gone door-to-door soliciting interviews? Seems as that my Osborns, long-time Hardin County residents, managed to avoid inclusion. Sure could have been some priceless nuggets of family history in a good profile. In any event, it looks like the county history would make fascinating reading for those of us with Hardin County connections. Gonna' have to start saving my pennies. Hi List, I just resubscribed to this list. I'm looking for the obituary of Judge Loucks Brown. I believe he was a Judge in Hardin County. His father was Johnathan Brown from Ada, OH. He would have been born about 1885-1895 and he was still alive in 1952. His father (Johnathan) and my grandfather were brothers. Any help would be appreciated. You can send the obit by email. Thanks. Ken Brown

I have "lost" my gr. grand uncle Francis Lee. He was born in 1848 in Columbiana Co. He last appeared on the Harden Co. 1860 census with his father Hugh Lee in Mt. Victory. He was not on the 1870 Crawford Co. Kansas census with his father and other family members. Is there a list of Harden Co. deaths for the 1860 to 1870 period? It's also possible Francis was in the Civil War, althouggh I've never found his name on any Civil War lists. Thanks for any help. Ted Lee.
