Hi to all lists (and I apologize now if some of you are on the same lists I am and get this twice or more times!).... Anyway, my girlfriend Susan was over last night. She used to work at the National Archives and we were talking about the fire and the 1890 census. She said that the 'fire' actually burned WWII records. The 1890 census was water damaged. The Archives appealed to Congress to appropriate money to have them saved and restored but they never did. They just threw them away!!! How sad and disappointing. None of these guys in Congress must have been doing genealogy at the time! 8-( Barbara DAVIDSON Norkus
