Re: JOHNSON & ROBERTS & ROGERS; Dear Hancock County friends, I wrote earlier > I've been told to look in Hancock, Muskigum and Wyandot >Counties for ROBERTS & JOHNSONs who might be related because the >counties changed boundaries in the early days. Mike Creps wrote Tues, Apr 20 '99 that he "did a little creative searching" and found in the LDS-IGI file a marriage of James JOHNSON, Sex: M, Spouse: Mary ROGERS Marriage: 6 Sep 1832 Muskingum, Ohio; source info: Batch number: 7109603 Sheet: 74. I'll have to do a lot more research to verify facts but this could be a breakthru. IF this James JOHNSON was indeed the husband of my Mary A. _?_ JOHNSON he might have died sometime after their 3rd child, Allen Johnson was born in 1842 and before his wife, Mary A. JOHNSON married again, about 1844. That narrows his possible death date to a 2 or 3 year period. Do you have any suggestions where I should start to look for a death date -in the Muskigum, Hancock, & Wyandot Co, Ohio area for James JOHNSON in 1842-1843 or even 1844? Of course maybe Mary's husband -whoever he was- just "deserted" the family. Sorry this is so long! I'm so thankful for everyone's help! The two items which have proven most useful in my searches have been 1) OBITS and 2) Death Certificates. The DCs I've ordered generally give spouse's and parents' names and place of birth, if known. Not all have everything but most have something. Good Luck. Bill 4/20'99 Mary K Ward wrote: Re: JOHNSON & ROBERTS > I have found my husband's ggggrandmother, Mary A._?_ ROBERTS > 38 yrs old b.
