J. Baughman, 1911: Amos M. BECK b. 7 Feb 1858 Lancaster, OH s/o John M. and Maria B. (KRAFT) BECK. John M. b. 3 Feb 1808 Goettingen, Germany. Maria b 3 Jun 1821 Anstoben, Germany. John M. was six when he arrived in US with his parents. Arrived 9 Sep 1814. His parents were John G. and Sabina B. (BENDER) BECK They located in Lancaster, Fairfield Co, OH. Maria's parents were Jacob and Anna (BLASER) KRAFT of Anstoben and Overberbach, Germany. They remained in Germany their whole lives. Maria arrived in US 6 Jun 1845. Maria was born 3 Jun 1821 Anstoben, Germany. She is "now is her nintieth year" John M. Beck lived with parents until he mar. 21 Sep 1838. He and bride lived in Lancaster, OH. He was a ropemaker. They had 7 children: Mary A., b 1845; Jacob F. b. 1849; Eliza J., 1851; Amos M. 1858; H. Franklin, 1860; and Daniel, 1862. John M. died 2 Mar 1868. Widow still living in Lancaster. 21 May 1885, Amos BECK mar Miss Della FLAVIN b 11 Dec 1867 Upper Sandusky, OH d/o Dr. William and Martha (Conaghan) Flavin. Willliam b in 1842 and die. 16 Sep 1896. Martha was born 16 Sep 1846 Upper Sandusky, OH. Martha died of typhoid fever 16 Sep 1887 Greenspring, OH. Dr. Flavin mar. nex Miss Bowers of Tyro, OH, south of Tiffin, and they have a son, Charles Flavin, who is employed in the electric works at Columbus. The 2nd Mrs. Flavin died and he mar. her cousin Emma Bowers and they had 3 children: Edward B., Grace, who is Mrs. Harvey HIRN of Ottawa, OH, and Mrs. Maud MILLER of TX. Mr. Hirn is a hotel keeper and Mr. Miller is in the machine business. Amos and Della BECK have 2 sons: Charles A. b. 27 Feb 1887 and Earl M. b 8 Mar 1889. Amos M. Beck stayed with parents until he was 19. He took to shoemaking, but soon went to Findlay, Ohio, where his cousin George W. Myers, was an agent for the Lake Erie & Louisville Railroad Company and owner of a large elevator, and the subject himself [Amos] entered the service of his cousin. He remained there four years.
