Hello - I am researching the surname PUNCHES from Hancock County, OH. The family seems to have originated in PA. Have heard the original name was PONTIUS, but am having trouble with connecting it. The earliest ancestor I've found is Peter Punches, born in PA, living in Hancock, OH. An early deed shows that he came from Pickaway County, OH. Prior to that, the line is lost.
