According to Delbert Gratz in BERNESE ANABAPTISTS AND THEIR AMERICAN DESCENDANTS, there was a second wave of emigration to America from the Jura Plateau and ALSACE by Bernese Mennonites who lost their exemptions from military service. I have WALTER ( Walti?),FELLER(Foeller?) and BARNHART lines who migrate from PA into Hancock Co., OH from Wintzenbach, Alsace ( present Bas-Rhin) France between 1840 and 1860. Does anyone have the names of WALTER, Andreas b. 13 Feb 1805, Wintzenbach Oct. 1861 Hancock, OHd. and/or HAAS, Barbe from Wintzenbach b. 21 March/May 1811 in Wintzenbach, d. 9 Oct 1890 in Hancock, OH anywhere in his/her database? In wintzenbach, the previous generation who died there were Johannes Michel Walter b. 1765, d. 9 Dec 1851 m. to Margarethe Mueller b. 1771, d. 15 Nov 1890? Many thanks in advance for suggestions or places to look. Margaret Shank ( Arvada, CO) ==== MENNO-ROOTS Mailing List ==== This list is archived.
