    3. Brown's HIstory of Hancock County, Page 451: Marion Township "Willis Ward and family came from Gallia County, Ohio, in the spring of 1829, and "squatted" north of the Blanchard on Section 16. when Allen Wiseley came to the township in the fall of 1830, Ward had a clearing of several acres around his cabin. He was a noted hunter, and spent most of his time slaughtering the wild denizens of the forest, principally for the bounty then paid by the county for the scalps of the more dangerous animals. His father, Stephen, and brother, CHARLES, joined him in 1830, but settled on Section 15. In April, 1832, Willis was elected justice of the peace, being the second in the township, but dies soon after, and was buried on his father's farm, now the homestead of George W. Wiseley. His family went back to Gallia County, whither Charles and his wife also returned, the parents going to Wood County." Page 680, 681. Big Lick Twp. N. H. Ward b. June 8, 1812 in Washington Co. A list of court cases and grand jury members. Did not find Ward on this one, either. Let me know if you think any of these fit. Checking my index I note that it says Willis is on both of these pages. If Willis is one you are interested in, I'll look again in the morning. I don't see Mahlon in the index, however. - Leah in Texas Mary K Ward wrote: > Does anyone have a copy of Brown's History of Hancock county, OH? > Could you look for this information in it for me? > There is some info in it about the Ward's. I'd like to know what it says about Charles Ward A lot of Wards on pg. 680,681,834,367 463,551,208,268. I'd like to know who they are. I'm trying to find the parents and family of both of the following: Mahlon J Ward was probably born 1832 in Findlay, OH. His father was born in England and his mother was born in Ohio. Mahlon J. WARD married Francis E. Roberts 18 July 1861 in Hancock county, OH. Charles WARD was in Hancock county in 1833. Who was he? Willis WARD is on the 1830 Findlay twp, Hancock Co census. 1. Re: WARD - England to America -How to find ship(s)
    2. Mary K Ward
    3. Can anyone tell me how to begin trying to find the ship on which my WARD ancestor was a passenger from England to America?? I'd like to start by looking for a Charles WARD who could have been the father of Mahlon James WARD born 1832 in Findlay, OH. who married in 1861 Fanny E. ROBERTS of Wyandot Co, OH. I don't have the names of Mahlon James WARD's parents but they might have married in Ohio where his mother and he were born. There was a Charles WARD & wife both under 50 and a male age 5 to 10 on the 1840 Findlay, Hancock, OH census. who I think could be Mahlon J. WARD's parents. I can't connect him to any other Hancock Co, OH WARDS. There was a Willis WARD on the 1830 Findlay twp, census. Is there an expert who can advise me about searching ships passengers? Thanks so much, Mary Kay Ward in Richmond, VA

I know some are extremely tired of hearing about people still alive so I'll be quick. "Cause I know the message right after mine will be the one you've been waiting for 20 years to receive! Oddly enough the web page mentioned in the subject has been closed down. The question - "How can it be a scam if they don't want money?" Easy! Many types of these "human interest" stories with sketchy details but heart-wrenching overtones ask you to leave a message of support - that's the scam - they are grabbing your e-mail address, making a list and either using it themselves for junk mailing or hoping to sell the addresses to others for their use...simple as that. Actually, with a minimum amount of web-page programming experience they can capture your e-mail address simply by you visiting their web-page. 3. Helllllloooooooo, I agree with those who've stated "Let's use this list for what it was meant to be used for. . . genealogy" If you want to help the family...GREAT, but I agree with the train of thought that there are plenty of people out there to help this "needy" family. I have seen several similar cases and KNOW that they are seperated as a last resort. IF the family needs assistance, why doesn't she take it to the local TV stations where they'll reach a broader and more localized audience? hmmm? #1. She did NOT even state WHY the family was to be split up. It could be due to alcoholism, drugs, or something on those lines. [I'm NOT judging...just stating possibilities] #2. IF you REALLY want to help this family, do your homework and look up the numbers and make the necessary phone calls to do so! Don't sit back and wait for someone else to do it for you. But, PLEASE do so without inundating this "g-e-n-e-a-l-o-g-y" mailing list about it. Thanks for your time Floa Swisher

The address at 419 Western Avenue is very close to St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church and I would venture the guess that the Church knows something. 1. CHERRY
    2. Hello All, I'm new to this list & want to share my research interests with you. I'm researching the CHERRY surname in Findlay, Hancock Co. Joseph M. CHERRY, b. 1844, engaged in the grocery business in Findlay for several years after the Civil War. He married his first wife (unknown) in Findlay then moved to MO for awhile. He died in 1910 & his body was returned to Findlay for burial. One of his sons, George B. CHERRY was still living in Findlay in 1910. Joseph M. CHERRY was a son of Nathaniel Cherry & a grandson of Rev. War Soldier Thomas Perrin CHERRY. Another son of Thomas Perrin CHERRY, Ralph CHERRY, also lived & died in Findlay in 1866/67. Would love to hear from anyone with knowledge of this line. Thanks, Debbie Moore Tucson, AZ
