    1. [Hancock Cty, Ohio] Hancock Cty related Items for Sale

    3. Please note the thread below. While I would not customarily post items that are for sale through this list, I thought that there may be some researchers who would be interested in the items listed. I do not know this person nor can I vouch for her credibility. Having said that, I have no reason to suspect that her offer is not legitimate. As always, caveat emptor! I live here, and I know that building looks so familiar. The tower is different also. I will take a look around and ask a few historians here to see if they recognize it. This is an intersting and beautiul picture. You are luck to have it. If we can figure out where and what it is today, would you like to donate a copy of it to the Hancock Co. Chapter of Ohio Historical Society. I think they would love to know about it. Good Luck, and I'll let you know if I find anything, Michelle Reed http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~majestik

    2. Don and Mary Saban
    3. We have a photograph in our files that we found in our Wilson Family photos. The date is 1906. It is a public school building. The families involved in that line involve a long list - Wilson, Tompkins, Fickle, Madden, Carroll, Loughrey, Barnett, and many more. We created a webpage to house the picture in the hopes that some of you, someone, anywhere, might know where the building is located and the history behind it (OK, that is a long shot, but here goes....) http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~sabthomp/mysterybldg.htm Thanks ahead of time for taking a moment to view it. 3. Are there marriage records as far back as 1853? probaly in cleveland or Hancock county. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: (no subject) Date: Sun, 13 Aug 2000 22:49:04 -0500 From: "Robert Yerington" <gummer@machlink.com> Reply-To: "Robert Yerington" <gummer@machlink.com> To: "Mary Stickney" <STICKNEYS@ALLTEL.NET>,"Rachelle Curtis" <curtis.rachelle@mcleodusa.net> References: <39975038.8A578205@ALLTEL.NET> I also saw the records in Tipton, but also noticed That the John tjere had no D. for a middle initial. I also saw that his name was spelled Yarrington one place Yerrington on another page. Her name was listed as Sarah Powell in 1858. But the > marriage to Sarah Wade took place in Ohio in 1853. She was born in 1831 so, depending on what time of year the census was taken she would have been 28 in 1860. If this is the same John Yerington he may have lost his first wife and by chance married another Sarah in 1858. When I looked up the John & Sarah married in Cedar county, I looked under the ladies also. That is where I found it spelled Yerr---. I also saw that it looked like she had been married before. The best I can do with the second name is Emma. Just guess. She may have been the child of an older brother they took in. Weren't aany welfare programs in those days. She may also have been adopted from another family and taken the name. The age for D.W.and Josephine were right for the census and for an 1853 wedding. If he remarried tthe 2nd Sarah the last 5 or 6 kids could very likely been hers. > The first name is Sarah Yerington age 28 > > I can not read the second name. age 10. see if you can read it. > > The 3rd name is Webster (Daniel Webster) age 5 > > I thought Daniel Webster was John and Sarah's first child. 3. Marian, The Hancock county marriage records indicate that John Hall married Nancy Byal April 9, 1846. John, age 25, and Nancy, age 25, Hall are on the 1850 US Census in Liberty Township, family number 10. They have children William, age 3, and Emily, age 11/12. I don't have a reference for later years but you should check all the censuses where they might have lived. Your grandfather should show up on the 1860, etc. Incidentally, I have checked my records for earlier generations and find that this John Hall is probably not related to my Obediah. Obediah's parents were Joshua Hall and Nancy Brown. They only had two sons. The other one, Caleb, died as a young adult before he married. No Children from Caleb's line. 3. Marian, My GGGrandparents were Obediah Hall and Elizabeth Rose. Their fourth child, and second son, was James Monroe. Family records and county marriage records indicate he was born October 28, 1851 in Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio. He married Ella M. sides February 22, 1877. James Monroe Hall died March 7, 1850; I don't know where exactly. I think I recall my grandmother visiting him in Kansas City. Is this your guy? My Great Grandfather, Calvin Sigel Hall, was 11th of 13 children of Obediah and Elizabeth (Rose) Hall. He was their last son. Sigel and his wife, Laura Hudson, are buried here in Portland, Oregon.
