Hello, I wanted to add the surname - HARKNESS - to my earlier list of names: TODD, KALB, SHOEMAKER, BOWMAN, NEEDLES, GAULT, EDGAR, CULP, and BIXBY families in Hancock County mostly in the McComb area although other locations are possible. I have sketchy information on most of these names more complete on others. I am always interested in new names to research and willing to share whatever inofrmation I do have. Hi, Is anyone researching any of the German families who settled in the Jenera or Arlington areas in the 1830s? They were involved in a shipwreck on the Virginia coast, eventually settled near Jenera and founded the Lutheran church there. They have a fascinating story and I know quite a few people have looking into the matter. Some of the names are: BAUER, ARRAS, TRACHT, BITSCH (now Beach) and PRICE. I know there quere many others but those are the ones that stick in my mind. Brian Bowers ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

I'm not sure how this list works, but here goes. I'm looking for information about Catherine Ruckman Henderson (1839-1920) and James M. Ruckman (1972-1945). James was born to Catherine Ruckman out of wedlock. My quest is to determine the father of James. There is no birth certificate in Hancock County for James, but that is his birth place as listed on his marriage license and other documentation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have some information about the RUCKMAN family that I will be glad to share if there is any interest. Paul Davis davis1@bright.net

hmmmmm just when I was thinking that one of the nicest thing about this list is that it is quiet!! compared to many others... I received my Great Great Grandfather's Civil War Pension Records and in some of the sworn statements contained in it, he lists his birthplace as Hancock Co., OH. I wish I would trace him to there, but have not had any success so far. He was David EVERLY, son of Joseph EVERLY and Susan EAKIN Everly. David was born in March 1832 and had at least one brother, Frederick, born in 1836. Joseph and Susan were married in Tuscarawas County, Ohio and I have found Susan and the two boys on the 1850 Sangamon County, IL census. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Hi Brian and all, Here's my 'Sound off' list. I am looking for info on the family of Silas TWINING; b.26 April 1802, Bucks Co., PA of Quaker heritage. He came to Hancock Co. before May 1836 when he bought land and was already 'of Hancock County'. Mar. Letitia HAROLD/HARROLD 8 Feb.1837 in Hancock Co., D.12 Jan. 1854, buried in the old Eagle Cemetery, moved later to Maple Grove Cemetery. I would like to find proof of his first marriage,( who and when), as he had two sons; John, b. 6 Feb.1829 in PA., and Charles, b.10 Feb. 1833 in PA. John d. 29 Dec. 1848 at age 19 and is also bur. in Maple Grove Cem. Charles, mar. 2 June 1858 to Minerva Cole, d. 14 Sept. 1864, bur. Sec. 8, Grave 179 in Knoxville, TN. I also have a 'stone-wall' on the parentage of his second wife Letitia HAROLD; b. ca. 1817 in Bucks Co., PA. , d. 20 Sept.1898 in Middleton Twp., Wood Co. OH., and buried in Union Hill Cem., Bowling Green, OH. I think she descended from the lines of Samuel HAROLD , A Quaker of Bucks Co., but cannot find any mention of her in abstracts of Bucks Co. wills. Silas and Letitia had 6 children all born in Findlay Twp., Hancock Co.: Amos-b.26 July 1837 Eli - b. 23 Feb. 1839 Francis Marion - b .21 Nov.1842 ( Need his death date and place) Sarah - no birthdate, supposedly died young. Alvin - b. 25 April 1847 and a son - (no info ) , died young. Also who was Sarah McCahan, mentioned in estate and partition action against Frances Marion in the estate records of Silas ? If any of these names ring a bell with someone out there, please help. I will be very thankful for ANY leads or help. I will be willing to share any info I have on these people. I am descended through Amos and Mary (Norris ) TWINING. Thanks , Wilma <wrmccy@bright.net>

I would be interested in any further trace of any of these people. Dorothy Burt 27321 Reese Creek Rd Monroe, OR 97456
Hi Barbara, You're right. I was beginning to think that I had "unsubscribed" myself. Perhaps all of the current subscribers should sound off so we know who's interested in whom (and what). I can start off right now. I'm looking for information on families that lived in the Arlington and Mount Blanchard areas (as well as Wyandot County). I have quite a bit of information on most of these families and am very willing to pass it on, sources and all. They are: PRICE, beginning with the German immigrant families (Nicholas and Christian) of 1831. McDANIEL, who lived in Wyandott County in the 1800s but moved to Hancock County in the early part of this century. (Thomas, that is.) TRACY, Joel and Abram in the late 1800s. BEAGLE, just starting with these folks. They appear to have come from Maryland and married into the Tracy family. TRACHT, another German immigrant family from 1831. By the way, I'm also interested in the "Famous Dove" immigrants who settled around Jenera. I know there's a lot of very good information out there. Is anyone else interested in them?
