Hello, DO NOT post notices like this to the Hamilton County mailing list without asking my permission first. It is OFF TOPIC, since posts to this list should only refer to anything related to Hamilton County. Any government operation is at risk during the budget process, however, the NARA itself is not the target of the proposed budget cuts; rather it is a related organization, the NHPRC, that is probably going to be abolished. This organization provides grants to local (not national) archives and record preservation projects so the message itself is not accurate about NARA. It might be acceptable on a few relevant lists for genealogical resource topics -- if it could be verified that it is still current and relevant--which it doesn't appear to be--the website says action was needed by April 26th. It could also be posted in a general forum--something like ROOTS-L or the RootsWeb-Review but permission would be needed before it was posted and pre-screeners or the editor would first verify that the info is up-to-date and accurate before publishing it so that ALL RootsWeb users can see it rather than having it repeated on county and state lists over and over.
