Hi; Been a long time since I was a Greater Cincinnati resident, but I don't remember hearing "tri-county" as much as "tri-state" area. Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, of course. And I do understand and agree with all the messages about extending family research into various nearby states and counties. It's a very good point to make for those people who are not familiar with Cincinnati and Hamilton County. In research efforts, I have found people whose relatives knew only they were "from" Cincinnati whose previous generation ancestors were born in Dearborn Co. IN, or Kenton/Campbell/Boone Counties, KY, or Adams/Brown/Clermont Counties, OH. And then there is Maysville (Mason Co. KY). It all seems to be connected with various migratory patterns, and crossing the Ohio River at different points. For instance, in a daughter-in-law's family, I found a marriage connecting a Mason Co. KY man to a Brown County OH woman. And then they moved on into Kansas! Knowing this has, by the way, made me more aware of the need to become familiar with maps of other areas I might not be familiar with. Similar situations do exist elsewhere. Best, Ann Bergelt Florida
