    1. Re: [OH-HAMILT] Are adoption and lunacy records sealed forever?
    2. Hi, Whoops, I made a mistake with the lunacy record -- that record is in Champaign County, Ohio. My genealogist actually found that record but the clerk (common pleas, probate, I think) told her that she couldn't see it because all lunacy records in Ohio are sealed forever -- so this would still apply to Hamilton Co., Ohio, too. I've tried to find out, but no one but that clerk holding the record seems to know. Does anyone know where I could find out for sure? I have two adoption records to find. One is in Hamilton Co., OH and one is in Preble Co., Ohio (I think) -- I really didn't get very far because I talked to a librarian in Preble County and she said adoption records in Ohio are sealed forever. Is this true? I also am trying to obtain a 1921 birth certificate from Hamilton Co., Ohio. I was told that the only people that can get it are the children of the person, the parents, or the spouse. My mother could sign for it because the deceased individual was her sister, or I could sign for it because I was her niece, but there are no children, parents, or spouses to sign for it. Is it true that only the parents, spouse, or children of a person can sign for a 1921 birth certificate? As you can see, I'm having problems obtaining records. I just would like to know for sure that these clerks have the right information. Please help me if you can. Thanks! Susan
