Hi, Interesting question, and I'm looking forward to someone having an answer. However, the 1881 date would seem to belong to those records, if recorded in Hamilton County, that would have been destroyed in the 1884 courthouse fire (unless, like the marriages, they were somehow "restored"). What court would have been in charge of adoption and lunacy? Probate? Family Court (if they had that designation then)? There may be some mention in the court minutes. Ann Bergelt Florida
