Has anyone looked up Ohio death records that are supposedly available on microfilm at the main Library in Cincinnati. If so, can you tell me the process for obtaining copies and how much they cost? Also, are the records organized by year or first by county and then year? Lastly, what period do they cover? John Charles Tippet johntippet@cox.net
The death records on microfilm at the main library are indexed by year. You need to check the index to get the certificate number. The actual rolls of film for the death certificates are first by year of death and then by certificate number. They did have them from Dec 1908 thru 1944. I'm not sure about contact information, fees or how long to expect a response from the library. The Ohio Historical Society in Columbus has them indexed from Dec 1908 thru 1954, but only have certificates on film thru 1953. There it is a $6 fee per certificate request. You can check their website for any other contact information.
