Also, even tho I now live in Montana, I grew up in Cincinnati and members of my family to this day still call University Hospital, "Cincinnati General." Maybe our family and yours have just called it that down thru the generations? I'm relatively sure that the general hospital that was used for downtown Cincinnati would not have been way out on Bethesda Way back in the 1800s when people had to travel by foot and wagon/horse. In fact, my Mom's uncle (born c.1900 as i recall) was stabbed in a bar downtown and he walked to "the downtown hospital," which was called Cincinnati General, where he was turned away because of lack of insurance and money - so you see, being turned away is not something that just started happening a few years ago! (He died from his injuries, by the way.) Anyway, my family moved from KY to Cincinnati just after 1900 and they have always called the hospital "Cincinnati General." Hope that helps somehow.
