As far as lunacy records go - maybe someone can answer this for me - in the 1860 Ohio Census for Cincinnati, my g-g-g-g-grandmother is shown as insane. She was shown as living with her daughter and son-in-law. How did they determine the "insanity" which I assume was senile dementia of some kind. Would she have a certified record anywhere? Or would she have to have been in some kind of institution? thanks, Penny
