Hello. This is not genealogy so I'll keep it short; hope it's ok I'm putting this on here, list mom/dad (assume we have one). Many have been wondering what they can individually do to help the victims of the Hurricane. Many too have been concerned about help even getting to people. I am one such. I want to advise any/all who want to help to call your local Mormon Churches (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints). I am Mormon and through our church leadership we get regular updates on what's going on. I am in Northeast Texas and as I'm sure you know, we have received at least 25,000 in Houston and I think the same in San Antonio w/more no doubt on the way; I even know of folks who have arrived in Tyler, Texas within 45 minutes of me. As of exactly 35 minutes ago (1:15 p.m. Texas time) a call has just gone out to church members to bring specific items to our local churches; hygiene kits are going to be assembled. We've been asked to have things in by Sat or Sun for assembling and shipping immediately to Houston. While I do not know if all LDS Churches in Ohio & other states have just gotten the same call we have, it is possible - hence, this email for any/all of you hoping to do something to help! Again, sorry this off the subject of genealogy but I felt it sufficiently important to post. Hope that's ok & that it goes through.
