Has anyone on this list used the book "Ohio Wills & Estates to 1850" by Carol W. Bell? I am confused as I found several references in it for Hamilton County, when I wrote to the Hamilton County Probate Office they replied that they did not have these records. The records were: George Hudson 1834 A 3638 John Brooks 1819 A 793 Sarah Brooks 1830 A 802 Any idea where these records are? Thank you for your help. Hamilton Co. Genealogical Society has a resource: "Guide to Genealogical Resources In Cincinnati and Hamilton Co.". It can be purchased for around $10 from the website; hcgsohio.org. The group has also published several books re wills. 1. Will Index of Hamilton Co. OH 1792-1850 2. Wills Filed, Probate Court Hamilton Co.Ohio 1791-1852 3. Wills Filed, Probate Court Hamilton Co. OH, Book 2, 1853-1866 If you are in the Cincinnati area, the wills 1791-1901, are available ar the Carl Blegen Library at the University of Cincinnati. (Archives & Rare Books Dept., P.O. Box 210113, Cincinnati, OH 45221, Phone: 513-556-1959, Fax: 513-556-2113. An index of wills 1791-1901, as well as the 3 books published by the Gen. Soc., is available at the Main Library in downtown Cincinnati in the History & Genealogy Department on the 3rd floor. Another option is to print the form (on the hcgsohio website) to request the Research Committee of the Hamilton Co. Gen. Soc. to search the books for you. The fee is $20 for non members and $10 for members.
