Hello Everyone, I am looking to see if there may be anyone reading this message who may have a connection to the family of Matthew Donnelly and Stella Burkhardt who lived in Cincinnati. The children of Matthew Donnelly (born about 1861 - died 04 Jun 1913, Cincinnati) and Stella Burkhardt (born 17 Jun 1879 - died 15 Nov 1953, Cincinnati) who were married about the year 1904 are: 1. Joseph Bartholomew Donnelly (born 25 Aug 1904, Cincinnati - died 13 Oct 1981, Sacramento, California) 2. Mary Donnelly (born about 1909, Cincinnati - died ?) At the moment, I only know that Mary Donnelly married a certain Charles Cole (born about 1907, Indiana - died ?) around the year 1927. The 1930 Cincinnati census indicates that Charles and Mary had at least one child, a certain Ruth Cole born about 1928. Based upon Stella Donnelly's obituary which I am going to include below, there were at least three other grandchildren of Matthew and Stella Donnelly whom are currently unknown at the present time. I would like to see if there are any potential living descendants or relatives of the Donnelly or Cole families. Matthew Donnelly's sister, a certain Sallie G. Donnelly was married to my great grand uncle Bartholomew Fanning who was also a Captain in the Cincinnati Fire Department. I just have two quick questions before I end this message. I am familiar with the St. Joseph New Cemetery burial records, but are there burial records available for the old St. Joseph Cemetery? I am curious to know if anyone may have quick access to the 1900 Williams' Cincinnati directory? I am having difficulty tracking down Matthew Donnelly in the 1900 census record for Cincinnati, and hoping that the 1900 directory may list a street address for him. Apparently in splendid health, a powerful, robust-appearing man, Capt. Matthew Donnelly of the Cincinnati Fire department, was stricken suddenly Wednesday morning and in a few minutes he was dead. Captain Donnelly had gone from his post of duty, Engine Company 27 in Clifton, to Vine and Mulberry streets, to inspect the fire prevention equipment of a garage. He was making the rounds of the garage when he sank to a chair, saying he felt ill. He was taken to the 19's house on Upper Vine street. Almost immediately he became unconscious. District Fire Marshal Burk was summoned. The marshal hastened in his auto to Donnelly's residence on Clifton avenue, and physicians were summoned, but Donnelly expired soon after he was carried into his home not having regained consciousness. Dr. Arch Carson who was called to attend the stricken fire captain reported the case to Coroner Foertmeyer. It is said Donnelly had recently been complaining about heart trouble. "Matty" Donnelly was 52 years of age and leaves a widow and two children. He became a member of the fire department in 1888, was promoted to lieutenant in 1902 and became a captain in 1908.
