I find it interesting that Mr. Niehaus identified St. Joseph Cemetery on W. 8th St burials in the north side plot as burial site for cholera vistims. He may very well have more history of that cemetery than I, but the north side plot has been called the Old Irish Cemetery, predating St. Joseph New Cemetery. Some of my Irish ancestors were buried in the north side plot. Their stone, described in a private family history, no longer stands, though there are still gravestones and memorials for other Irish families there. Records (Incomplete) of many of those buried in the Old Irish Cemetery are held in the office of the New St. Joseph Cemetery, and it is my understanding that the New St. Joseph Cemetery maintains that site. Mr. Niehaus may be correct that the north side plot originated as a burial ground for cholera victims, as he has studied and written regarding this subject. I was not aware of that. Perhaps we are writing of two different areas. http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/OHHAMILT/2008-06/1214330364
