Janet, Thanks so much..you are correct, it took up the whole block. It would not have been a hotel in your time...I would say around the 1800's or so, it was so very, very old inside. We lived in several different apartments in the years we lived there. I went from first grade to sixth grade at Fairview and then on to Hughes High school. My mom use to clean the hallways and such for extra money for our family. It was owned then by Victor Palumbo who I think inherited the place from his father Michael Palumbo. I lived in another apt building before that one on Ohio Ave, just across from the Friars Club behind a little grocery store. I use to turn in pop bottles for candy at the grocery...such fond memories.
