    3. Hi Donna, Thank you for taking the time to reply. I tend to agree that the (D) does mean divorced. Even though divorce was not so common at that time, it did happen. Would you have any idea as to which agency would have that record. Her second marriage was in 1889. Appreciate your help. God Bless.     3. I would think it would be the same type of court that would handle divorces today. But, pre-1889 maybe everything went thru one court. I really don't know for that time frame.
