    3. Phyllis - are you coming for the Ohio Genealogical Conference April 17-19? It's on the north side of Cincinnati. Re places to stay - where are you planning to do most of your work? Downtown library, courthouse, cemeteries, ? I just did some Googling of downtown hotels (hotels near 45202) and came up with this one: (there are other downtown hotels but they are 3-6 blocks away. http://www.garfieldsuiteshotel.com/ I think it is within a block of the library if that is your primary aim. Personally I wouldn't wonder around downtown at night alone, but during the day and early evening you would be fine. I don't know how that would work out in terms what they charge for parking your car in addition to the room. Parking around the library can be a bit of a hassle. Here's another option, though it's about a 30 minute drive. On the east side of town there is an area called Eastgate - it's a big shopping mall area. There's a Holiday Inn and a Fairfield Inn out that way (you can Google hotels near 45244 to see these. They are also close to the expressway (I-275) so it is an easy drive to downtown. There's a hotel on Montgomery rd which I think is in Norwood. That might be ok. The area around the University and the hospitals - Clifton - is iffy for someone alone at night. I'd be happy to try to answer any specific questions you might have. You can email me directly at fayfeder at cinci.rr.com By the way - would you like company on any parts of your research? I live here, am retired, but the only research I've done is on the internet or a little at the downtown library. I am intimidated by walking into the courthouse and other places and so would love to go with someone and see how it is done. For the time in the library, if that is where you are going, we could take turns watching each other's things. - set up at a table and one of us stay with our stuff while the other went for books and films and so on. There are people cruising through the library all the time with an eye to stealing anything that is left unattended. Can anyone recommend a few places to stay in Cincinnati? I am not familiar with neighborhoods and which areas are nice and safe. I don't mind being a little ways out from the city. 3. I have been going to Cincy yearly for the last 7 years or so to do genealogical research for 1 week at a time. I have been staying at the Red Roof Inn in the Beachmont area. They have a weekly rate that is quite reasonable. It is near I-275 and is an easy drive to the city. Their phone number is (513) 528-2741. The best place (cheapest) place to park if going to the Cincy Library is the garage on Ninth St just past the Library on Vine St. John Charles Tippet [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peg" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, February 13, 2008 1:00 AM Subject: Re: [OHHAMILT] Cincinnati Research Trip > Phyllis - are you coming for the Ohio Genealogical Conference April 17-19? > It's on the north side of Cincinnati. > > Re places to stay - where are you planning to do most of your work? > Downtown library, courthouse, cemeteries, ? > > I just did some Googling of downtown hotels (hotels near 45202) and came > up > with this one: (there are other downtown hotels but they are 3-6 blocks > away. > > http://www.garfieldsuiteshotel.com/ > > I think it is within a block of the library if that is your primary aim. > Personally I wouldn't wonder around downtown at night alone, but during > the > day and early evening you would be fine.
