    3. I remember a couple of years ago before I knew her maiden name was Phillips, that I did a search on Ancestry for just the first name, "Artie". I was surprised that several people popped up, in different areas of the country. So it isn't completely off the wall. I'm reading a book right now written from the perspective of a woman named Arty who would have been in her mid-late 20's when the civil war started - she lived in the mtns of western North Carolina, and it is a true story as told by her descendant. I imgine there are other spellings as well.
