You didn't mention if you have an idea of the date. Just to help you figure when it was taken, the Carew Tower was finished being built around 1931, if that helps. Joan Williams, Miami, FL. I checked the following Cincinnati City directories and did not find any Headlight Portrait Co: 1876, 1887-88, 1896, 1905, 1910, 1928/29, 1933, 1941, and 1951. Nor did I find Brownell Photographic Studio or a Brownell as a photographer in any of the years above, except for 1887-88 only which shows a C.A. Brownell photographer listed at 196 W. 5th St. Perhaps the Headlight portrait co was in business only a short time. I do not know what the photo looks like, but is it possible that the photo was taken in the 1880's and a portrait painting done of it in the 1930's? If you still need help, the Rootsweb Vintage Photos list is excellent for dating photos. Phyllis -----Original Message----- > I have found an old picture of my G Grandmother or grandmother. Thanks to all who have taken the time and had an interest to respond. This last letter from Phyllis sounds interesting in its idea. The proof did have directions, so it is entirely possible portrait was being made. Funny the family would have the proof, but no sign of a portrait or a final print of the proof ! The dates coincide with the dates my G Grandmother would have been a young woman. Once again, I thank you all. Phyllis, I will join the group you mentioned. Cece, I just had a chance to read your post and know that Mr. Arthur Brownell bought the J. B. Kelly Photographic Studio or Old Reliable Gallery from James B. Kelly in 1880. See this website. Http://www.rootsweb com/~kykenton/Kelly.htm. Also see http://www.rootsweb.com/~kykenton/kirkby htm. Hope this helps. Renee Werth Thanks to all who have taken the time and had an interest to respond.
