All; I just want to acknowledge and archive a private reply I received in which the following suggestions were made for my mystery surname "Kandeldad". KANDELAKI, in Nurnberg - 3 listings with Russian first names KANDELHARD, HARDT -- in more northern German places KANDELLA - 1 listing in Bamberg. Of the selection, I'm inclined to go with KANDELHARD being the closest in appearance to "KANDELDAD". I have been unable to find a Dora or Dorothea on FamilySearch in the German IGI, but there were contemporary families. Will hone in on that one. Still welcoming any input.
