Ann, I've been following this discussion, even tried a soundex search for you on ancestry, but nothing conclusive. But, I just did a search for someone else on the 1850 census and scrolling down the page the surname Genglebach born in Saxony popped out at me. I recalled your message wondering if the ending dad c/b bach. Made me wondering if a German G could sound like a K????
