I am writing for information on my grandfather William David Dempster who appears on the census of 1870 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was apparently married and had a daugther Maggie. His wife died and he subsequently returned to Jamaica where he had been born. He served in the US Civil War in an Ohio regiment.
