I am trying to trace my SILVERSTONE ancestors in Cincinnati. This is what I know already: 1. Jacob SILVERSTONE, born Poland about 1788, emigrated to England where he had two children: Frances (about 1833, London), Ellen (about 1835, Paddington, London) and Rosa (1837, Strand, London). Rosa's mother was Hannah HARRIS (this may be an English version of a German or Polish name). 2. Further emigration to US (1837-1841?) where the family appears in Cincinnati in 1850 US Census. No sign of Hannah, Jacob's supposed wife, who may have died en route to the US or in the US. The family may have arrived in the US just after the 1840 Census as there is no trace of them until 1850. 3. Ellen marries Henry JACOBS about 1851-53 and has two children (Hannah - 1854 and Morris Henry - about 1856) and return to England where the rest of the family were born and brought up in Brighton, Sussex. (This suggests that Hannah was also Ellen's mother although I have not found any record of Ellen's birth in the UK. Her place of birth is only known from the later UK Census's.) 4. Jacob is mentioned in the history of the KK Bene Yeshurun Temple as being a trustee in 1841 and was present at the laying of the foundation stone of the new temple in 1865. 5. Rosa marries Henry Meyer in 1858 and they move to Kentucky. I am still searching for: 1. Information about Jacob's place of birth in Poland, his marriage (when/where) and his death, probably in the US.2. Any information about Hannah SILVERSTONE (nee Harris) - birth, death etc.3. Who was "Corrada" SILVERSTONE, mentioned in the 1850 US Census as being born in Germany? and I would be interested in making contact with any descendants in the US. Gerry
