The Friends Shop offers used books, including some discards from the Library; The Friends of the Library has periodic sales again offering used books including gifts and Library discards. Perhaps they would be willing to keep a lookout for a copy for you. Incidentally, my copy of the book is in 1 (large) volume, which is what the library was carrying at the time of publication. The two volume may have been a special set. Good luck.
