    3. Hello Everyone, Is anyone a member of the Ohio Genealogy Society ?  OHS has placed a 1870 database of the Longview Insane asylum online for its members. Can someone look at this database and tell if it is a census, like the 1870 census ?  OR, is there more to the database like information on the patients ? James Flagerty/Flaherty was there from at least 1860-1880 and I would like to know what other info this database has on him.  But I don't want to pay $32.00 for a membership only to find out that the info is the same as on the censuses.  Thanks for any help. 3. Sue, I checked this out for you. I could not find any Flagerty/Flaherty. I even checked the entire list of 600 people, one by one and no name was even mildly close. Are you sure he was there during that time? Could he have been under a different name? This is basically a grid table of information and is not an image of the actual census. The database description says "These names were taken from the books of the Asylum and many places of nativity and the occupations were not known." The data shown in the table is: Surname, first name, age, sex, occupation, birthplace and then specific notes. Most notes says Insane, but some say chambermaid, attendant, etc. Phyllis -----Original Message----- Can someone look at this database and tell if it is a census, like the 1870 census ?  OR, is there more to the database like information on the patients ?
