Hi List members, I am trying to determine the value of ancestor's estate who died in 1884. ............ Guardianship papers for each of his 5 children contained a note that the guardian bond was $10,000. So $50,000 was required in bonds for them. A notation on an Estate paper says the bond was $64,000 for George Shillito, administrator. The only thing concrete I could find was a statement that a bond should be twice the value of the minor's personal property, and that statement is from a current guardian bond website. Somewhere in family lore was an idea that his home on Central Avenue was worth $26,000. By the standards of 2006's money, that is close to half a million dollars. Any ideas on the value of the estate, and........where could I look to find the answer. Answers for this ancestor have been terribly elusive. Thanks................Helen in Florida
