    3. Kathy - Made me think twice when I began seeing siblings marrying out of the family faith and church. I came across this very thing in my research so maybe chances aren't as greatly reduced as you might think! I spent quite awhile combing through the online probate and will/estate records this afternoon. Even though I felt like a kid with a new toy, I still couldn't come up with much to further my Menke/Koetting family line. I did find a little bit on a John G. Koetting who appears to have died quite young. --------------------- 1850 United States Federal Census > Ohio > Hamilton > Cincinnati Ward 11 602 Kotting John G 23 abt 1827 Male Germany 602 Kotting Mary 25 abt 1825 Female Germany 602 Kotting Caroline 2 abt 1848 Female Ohio --------------------------------- http://www.hcgsdata.org/brides/Kni-Kram.shtml 1850-59 5-C-CC Kloppenburg, Heinric Koetting, Catharine (I'm still looking for the definition of the source code on that one) ---------------------------------------------------- http://www.probatect.org/pdftemp/radC67F2.pdf 23 Koetting, John G Mar 4, 1852 1 8 Mar 4, 1852 Adminstration granted unto Catharine Koetting, William Deho and Joseph Wrocklage, sureties, Bond $350 John Henry Urlage, Henry Moorhern, and Arnold Urlage apprs. 3. JC - OK, I won't give up on them just yet. ;) I did notice that most of the MEN(C)KE folks I find are Catholic, while my line was German Lutheran. Maybe both my Menkes and Köttings moved to the German Lutheran faith about the same time? It's really tough to say 150 years after the fact.
