Kathy; >From "Restored Hamilton County Ohio Marriage Records, 1808-1849: Menke, Ernst - Koetting, Anna Cath. 19 Nov 1845 North German Lutheran Church The list of churches at the beginning of the index book says the only location given for that church's records is the Public Library of Cincinnati, but I wonder if it might not also be in the Family History Library Collection? Also, I'm not sure about the date, but the Hamilton County Probate records site does have some marriages available. Researchers! This is my first attempt at finding old Hamilton Co. records. I spent about 15 ears looking for a marriage record in Clayton Co. Iowa and, just recently, nother researcher turned up a mention of it in Hamilton Co., Ohio. I believe the record is at the North German Lutheran Church. ttp://www.hcgsdata.org/grooms/Mein-Meyerr.shtml amilton County Genealogical Society incinnati Marriage Indexes 840-49 E-P-F Menke, Ernst Koetting, Anna Cath. I have the exact date of the marriage as 19 Nov 1845. I wrote to the Public ibrary and asked if they could obtain a copy of that record for me. But they rote back saying that they "tried to read the North German Lutheran Church film ut it simply too faded to make out many names. We did not see a Menke, ötting, Dubbels or Ribbe - but it could be there. While the names of the the ride and groom are difficult to make the rest of the information is almost mpossible. The roll of film MF929.377177 H217 1989 is readable but it seems to e random records thrown together." Has anybody else had the good fortune to obtain a legible marriage record in the id-1800s from the North German Lutheran Church? I am really hoping to find ome parents or siblings or other family members for Ernst Menke and Anna atherine Kötting. NOTE: This must have moved to Clayton Co., Iowa almost immediately after their edding, as their first child (listed on the 1850 census) was born in Iowa. ederal Census on the 14th of Sept, 1850 for Jefferson Township, Clayton Co., IA numerated by Elipholet here is a big fat piece of old scotch tape over the first name of the head of ousehold, but I'm reasonably certain that the name should be Ernest or Ernst. welling 187 Family 187 Ernst MENKER, 30, m, Blacksmith, 100 in Real Estate, lace of birth - Ger. atherine Menker, 30, f, b. 3. Thanks, Ann. I did a websearch for "Hamilton county Ohio Probate records" and came up with the site that I think you are referring to. I did find an early Koetting in the "K" list. http://www.probatect.org/pdftemp/radC67F2.pdf 23 Koetting, John G Mar 4, 1852 1 8 Also, this might be a big clue that leads somewhere - Restored Hamilton Co., OH Marriages 1808-1849 Koetting, Maria Bon, Joseph H. 7 Dec 1848 Code: EE http://www.probatect.org/pdftemp/rad47522.pdf 676 Bonn, Joseph Jan 19, 1853 1 164 I have searched for him on the 1850 before, but have not been able to locate them in Hamilton Co.
