See if your library has the online database to "America's Obituaries" and do a surname search - not only just for the name of the deceased, but also included in the content of the obit. I first confined it to OHIO papers only and came up with a 2005 Columbus Dispatch obit for Robert Maize, whose daughter Karen was married to Sean Spettel. Then in searching the US (there are only four pages) I found in Covington KY 1998 obit for Max Gross, whose wife's maiden name was Herta Spettel. There were "hits" in various parts of the US, including Iowa, IL and FL. This works well with the rarer names. Too many results with others unless you keep the search confined to a specific area or even a selection of newspapers. Ann Bergelt
