Hi, I have been trying to identify the Stout family of my great grandfather John A. Stout born about 1863. He was adopted by an Elisha and Elizabeth Toney Spencer when he was a small boy, but he had the Stout surname all of his life and wrote about an Aunt Jane Stout, a George Stout and a Matt? Stout in his journal about 1893. I was told that there was a large Stout family from Cincinnati, Ohio, and that he may have been related to them. All I have are two photos of these mysterious relatives visiting with my Great Uncle Harry Amadore Stout. I would greatly appreciate it if some people would look at these to see if any of these people look familiar. Can anyone tell me about what year they were taken? I'm thinking that they were from the 1920s or 30s, but I wish that I could pinpoint the year a little better. It seems that these individuals would have been on a census, but their last names may have not been Stout. Here are the two photos. If you click the small one it will enlarge it: http://www.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=shasta4737&view=63&pid=326& photoindex=0 Thanks for any help -- I have a huge brick wall. Sincerely, Susan
Thanks, Phyllis! I'm major snowed in here in the mountains south-west of Denver for the last 2 days, so I appreciated the email! (Didn't lose power for a change!!!) Can someone please tell me what the current procedure is for obtaining newspaper articles/death notices from the Cincinnati library? In recent years, I have e-mailed the library and they have mailed me the information. Has anything changed? Thanks for any input. Janet

Hi Phyllis, May I ask where and how you are accessing the Cincinnati Enquirer? For years I have been trying to determine when/where my great grandmother was marrried to husband #2. It might have been in Cincinnati since that is where husband #1 might have died. They had been married there in 1879. Thanks for taking the time to consider this question. God Bless. From the Tuesday morning June 26, 1888 Cincinnati Enquirer. JOSEPH SCHALLER DEAD: The Well-Known Brewer and Wealthy German Pioneer Dies of Inflammation of the Stomach. From the June 26, 1888 Cincinnati Enquirer. Gus PETERSON, the Walnut Street tailor, was arrested with his father last Sunday evening for disorderly conduct while on a John street-car. The Peterson's had been to Metz's wine-house and had taken a little too much for their own good. The young man picked a fuss with Joseph FOX, a shipping clerk for the Emerson & Fisher Carriage Company and now, notwithstanding the presence of a number of ladies, used some very unbecoming language. Lieutenant ROCKWELL and two officers arrested the offenders after a struggle, and locked them up at the Oliver-street Station. Yesterday morning they were arraigned in the police Court and had their cases laid over until the 3d of July. The old gentleman's disorder was his effort to prevent the arrest of his son when the officer came into the car. Phyllis

Sandy, I have forwarded your inquiry to Bill Graver because he is an expert in the records at the county recorder's office and has published indexes and guides to the indexes and deed books. The answer may be in his guidebook but I do not seem to have one at my desk at the moment but will check when I come home this afternoon if he has not yet responded to your inquiry or if someone else has not answered your question.
