    1. ? about LDS film
    2. stephanie miller
    3. Good Morning! While browsing through the LDS film list for Hamilton County. I saw a group of 60 films labeled "Genealogy file Surname Index, Catalog cards in Cin. & Ham pub. Library". Has anyone on this list ever used these and were they helpful? I have ordered many, many films from LDS but sometimes the titles are misleading and the contents are not what I expect. Thanks for your help. Stephanie -- ___________________________________________________________ Sign-up for Ads Free at Mail.com http://promo.mail.com/adsfreejump.htm

    1. Heiss, Stout, Heusfield, Hausfield, Housefield
    2. Hi Marilyn and everyone, The Heiss surname (no first name) was mentioned in an old journal that was written in 1893-1894 in Wayne County, Richmond, Indiana by my Great Grandfather John A. Stout. I have reason to believe that his Stout family was from Hamilton Co., Ohio, and I wonder if there may be some connection to your Heiss family and my Stouts. Do you know if any of your Heiss ancestors were connected to Wayne Co., Indiana or to any Stouts? Heiss appears to be a rather unusual surname, and I it have not found it in many places in Censuses from 1880 - 1900. It is mystery I would love to solve. PS Near the Heiss name in the journal there is also the entry "Sissie Heusfield had a girl baby". I think Heusfield might be a misspelling of Hausfield or Housefield. Do any of these names sound familiar? Thanks for any help, Sincerely, Susan

    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of seven men which was taken at Kelly's Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with the men appearing to be in their 20's - 40's at the time. The are all well dressed leading me to believe that it is a work related group or gentlemen's club photograph. Six of the men in the photograph are identified as follows: Geo A. POLLARD E. M. JAQUES John TOMPKINS Edw E. SHIPLEY Wm F. DODGE Fred MELCHER I am assuming that the 7th was not identified as the photograph was his. Each of the names appears to be an individual signature made by each of them. Based on limited research I believe that the individuals in the photograph may be: Geo POLLARD who was living with his wifes father and siblings in Cincinnati, OH during the 1880 census. Geo was age 33, born in OH, a Traveling Salesman whose parents were also born in OH. His wife Emma WILSON POLLARD was age 31, also born in OH, they were married on 6 June 1871 in Hamilton Co. and the couple had one child Rhoda POLLARD age 7 at the time of the census. They were living with Emma's father, C.A. WILSON age 61 born in VA, a sister Charlena age 28, and a brother Edward N. WILSON age 25, both siblings born in KY. I also find that Edward E. SHIPEY married Daisy STODDARD on the 1st of October 1885 in Hamilton Co. OH. Indications are that William Fisher DODGE was the son of Israel Stone DODGE and Emily Waldo DANA and that he was born in Cincinnati, OH sometime in 1859. I'm hoping to locate someone from one of the families so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    2. Joan & list: American Laundry was started by A. M. Dolph and spouse shortly after the civil war. They started by taking in washing and later added equipment. It became A.M. Dolph Co. and was bought by several businessmen in 1896 and became American Laundry Machinery Company. It actually became a huge company across the US and in other parts of the world. My great-grandfather Nathaniel Nunn was a metal foreman with the company for over 42 years. See if you can obtain a copy of the Cincinnati Post for Monday September 26, 1927. There is an article called Behind the Scenes. They have some caricatures of equipment and employees including my great-grandfather. I have a copy but it is not in the best condition.
