    2. I am a "cousin" of Louisa Goldstein listed in the 1900 and 1910 Hamiltion Co. Census. Am seeking marriage records for her and Charles Goldstein, which would have been from 1885 according to the 1900 Census. Also, her widowed sister Josephine Harper is listed in the same household. They are listed on the 1900 Census in Hamilton Co. Precinct B, Ward 19 B, Supervisor District 1, Enumeration District 152, sheet 6, lines 72-74. On the 1910 Census, Supervisor's district 2, Enumeration district 214 page 2, ward 18, lines 75, 76, 80. Please respond if you have information or suggestions for finding more information. 3. Hi Donna, The death was 52 years ago yesterday, and he served in the Navy during WWI. I also realized yesterday, and called my Dad to question him, because his mothers brother also served in WWI. My father confirmed that my uncle does not have a stone at all. So, it looks like I'll be working on trying to get a stone for my grandfather and my great uncle, who died in the 1970's) Do you know the cost range for the base that you spoke of? I'm concerned about the "perpetual fees" that the cemetery says are owed, because once the people died, the care fees were not kept up. (No one knew about them until my parents inquired about a stone, and then were told that thousands of dollars were owed on the plot) I'll see where I get with phone calls today as far as getting the form you spoke of. If I don't have much luck, I might just call one of the local funeral homes and see if they can spare a couple. Thanks for your help! 3. Me too, Ann. When I responded, I checked the box to respond to sender (you) only, and it went to the list. I'll have to pay more attention to the SEND TO line next time. It worked out well, though, as other people were able to jump in and offer assistance as well. I couldn't find a number to call the VA services about the stone, but will start the phone calls when business hours start today, starting with the VA Hospital in Denver. Thanks so much! 3. Hi Ann, How are you? I've been missing the lists so much, as I'm in the middle of moving and trying to get my house on the market. I sure will be glad when things calm down. I'm trying to catch up on some of the mailing list news, and ran across the conversation on the headstones. My grandfather served in the Navy, stationed in Illinois during WW1, but did NOT participate in combat. Do you know if he would be entitled to a headstone? Because if he is, I need to do something, as there are no markers on his grave at all. (Boy, what a gift to my Dad that would be, as he always wanted a stone for his parents, but never could afford it. Once he attempted, but they wanted thousands of dollars in back "perpetual fees" before they'd approve a stone!) Thanks much! WALTER had WALTER jr & daug: MERLE LOUISE & un- able to locate them. June never had any sons, only 3 girls John has 1 son,JEFF RILEY that lives in BATAVIA,Ohio I believe. Never have seen him & he is my 1st cousin. So,that leaves my Dad, Robert J. who has 2 girls BUT left my Mom for another woman & a son was born. We talk every so often & he was just informed recently, that Robert (our Dad) was not really his father.....so, no boys again. Wow, this sounds like a soap opera. Jeffrey Riley is the only "true" Riley son that could help. Would love to make a connection to the THOMAS RILEY. Will send my line to you. Nice to hear from you again, Joy Riley Ramsey

RILEY daughter, Joy Lynn. >I have alot of info on my family. >Please email me jlr@cinci.rr.com > >Joy Lynn Riley Joy, This may be the second time you receive this message. My first try bounced. Will try again. Bill. That was a fast response. Unfortunately I am not a son of Bim. In fact I doubt that I am related at all to the family of Walter P. Riley. For the longest time several of us thought that my anscestor, Matson Riley, b. 1779 in Virginia was the brother of Joseph Riley born about the same time in Virginia. Unfortunately through the efforts of DNA tests it appears now that Matson and Joseph are at the most related through their wives, both being Dyes, who were first or second cousins once removed. Matson is the son of Robert Riley who supposedly with a brother John Riley came from the North of Ireland around the time of the Revolutionary War. We have found that descendants of Joseph Riley match exactly with descendants of Miles, Hugh and Thomas Riley who were born in Cavan Co., Ireland and settled for a while in Maryland and Virginia. David Sidney Riley has documented lots of information on descendants of Miles Riley. A few days ago I started checking on descendants of a Thomas Riley who reportedly was born 1635 in Virginia thinking that this Thomas might be the same Thomas who was the brother of Miles and Hugh. I have been able to trace the descendants of Thomas b. 1635/38 down to the 1930 census. Am not trying to find a living male Riley descendant who would be willing to be tested to see if he matches with David Sidney Riley. I will gladly provide you any information you wish on my ancestry. And would greatly appreciate help on locating a relative of Walter P. Riley. Could you please give me a bit of information about your father Robert J. Riley? If you can not tie him to Walter or his parents, if you could give me your father's parents or grand parents I might be able to make the connection. Really looking forward to hearing form you. Bill Leonard W. Riley III Leonard W. Riley Jr Leonard W. Riley Sr John Newton Riley John Dye Riley Matson Riley Robert Riley brother of John Riley, both born in the North of Ireland.

    3. Off of the top of my head (really) I can think of 2 different things this may refer to. 1) Way back when, meaning a long time ago, I recall a surname index on file cards at the library that was essentially the Genealogy Societies of what was submitted to them by members, of information on index cards. I guess it's possible it could have amounted to 60 films, but that seems a lot. 2) The library has also indexed surnames in books which were mentioned 3 or 5 times (don't recall which). I'm not sure if they continue to do this with staff cuts etc. on new acquisitions or not. But, the surnames used to be searchable via CINCH, by going to other or something. I haven't played enough with the new catalogue search engines to know how to find it now. In any case, before the catalogue was computerized, this all used to be in a separate card file at the library & perhaps still is (maybe those files near the City Directories?) Sorry I feel I'm getting old & my memory isn't exact anymore :-) Linda From: "stephanie miller" <stephiem@email.com> To: <OHHAMILT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, May 07, 2005 12:19 PM Subject: [OH-HAMILT] ? about LDS film > Good Morning!
