    3. Rolene, I don't see that anyone has responded to this, & I can only go by my experience with personal research. There are some (most) administration books that survived the fire & many wills. Some of the older wills, the original "copies" made by the clerk are at the UC library & the books at the courthouse will read as they are the "restored" copies. As to packets for administration that you would find at most court houses which can reveal extremely helpful info., I don't think that any exist. Perhaps not because in whole or part do to the fires however. I don't know the time frame, perhaps 1960's-1980's probate decided to microfilm what records exist, and then destroy the paper copy. Over 300 microfilms are at the library in downtown Cinti. & at the courthouse. Yet, they apparently are such a mess, no organization, not labeled correctly or something, that neither place (court house or library) will let an individual look at the film. I've tried on several different occasions without luck. It's really a shame our elected officials chose to destroy what few copies exist of our original records. It's good they sought to microfilm them first, but not sure what went wrong with the microfilming.......... 3. I am looking for the father of John Glenn b 1797 in Ohio according to 1860 census. I have reason to believe that his father was either Hugh or William Glenn. Tax records about that time indicate a Hugh and William. John joined the Kentucky milita and fought in the War of 1812. He joined in Louisville in 1814 and was discharged in Gallatin Co. Kentucky in 1815. After Indiana became a state he was married in Switzerland Co in 1820. Anyone have Hamilton Co records out there on Glenn's in the late 1790's and early 1800's. I know this is tough as some of this Ohio land was later Indiana and theIndian lands of Indiana Gore. I would appreciate any information. Dean Glenn dglenn@hal-pc.org

    1. Re: [OH-HAMILT] Mount St. Mary's Convent of the Good Shepherd/WELSCH
    2. Jim
    3. Donna, There were two facilities operated by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in Cincinnati. That order of nuns was dedicated to working with girls who were either orphaned or underprivileged or delinquent. Mt. St. Mary Training School was at Grand & Warsaw in Price Hill, the hill west of the city. The Sisters of the Good Shepherd also ran the Convent of the Good Shepherd home and training school for girls on North Bend Road on the hill above Hartwell, approximately 10 miles north of downtown Cincinnati. This might help to determine in which facility your great-grandmother lived. Both facilities have been closed for many years. The Sisters of the Good Shepherd continue in the US. You might want to "google" for them or either one of the institutions.
