Listers, I wanted to let you know that the index which Bob Scharf compiled from the book "Playmates of the Towpath: Happy Memories of the Canal Swimmers Society" written in 1929 by Charles Ludwig of The Cincinnati Times-Star is now online: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohhamilt/playmates.html Bob had previously offered to do look-ups from this book & now you will be able to check the index to see if there is someone of interest mentioned in the book before you write to Bob :-) Linda Boorom co-CC Hamilton Co. An FYI to fellow list members......... I was down at the courthouse today for marriage records. Thought I'd save anyone planning such a trip some time. As mentioned before, they are in the process of filming all their records to make available online. They have all the administrative and wills books filmed and 3/4 of the marriage records (bound volumes). Those already filmed are boxed and sealed, and are not available for viewing. Any marriage record after mid 1930's is either on film or fiche, and you can still get copies of those. The plan is to have the filming completed and online by the end of the year. I was told the hard copies would not be destroyed but they still aren't sure where they will end up. Possible locations are either the Blegen Library at UC, the Cincinnati Historical Society, or the Ohio Historical Society. You might want to add this to your list of bookmarks.......... www.probatect.org Bob bgband@cinci.rr.com
the church is probably St Francis Desailes on Madison road. It is in that area
Thank you Marilyn, I'll check again at Ancestry. It doesn't sound familiar? As I said in an email I sent incorrectly - I'm in overload or heatstroke! Susan in (hot, hot) Kansas "She is insane, of course. The family history has become a mania for her." Hercule Poirot
Susan, I may have mispoke. It's not exactly a Death INDEX but rather the Death Records for Ohio from 1958 - 2000 and the Ohio Obituary Collection that are available at ancestry.com The Death Record gives the person's name, age, death date, mother's maiden name, county where they died, birthplace, death certificate # and volume. The obituary collection gives date of birth/death, age at death, other name mention and Newpaper Location (city and name of newspaper and date). The obituary can also be viewed by clicking on the link but so far I've only been been able to view them for 2005. I don't think it's complete. I have been away from genealogy--and my native Cincinnati -- for about two years. We'll be moved back completely in September. Can't wait! I am searching for the parish church for 2233 Francis Lane, which is near the 2000 block of Kemper, near Park Avenue, near Francisco Avenue, near the old Edgecliff College, Cypress Avenue and Victory Parkway. I don't think a book of marriages from this time period has been published, but just in case -- the bride was Gertrude Spengler (2233 Francis Lane) and Jules J. Arbogast (Fenwick Club). Thanks, Buffy
Hello Folks, Here's a great web site that was sent to me by a researcher from one of my other mailing lists: http://www.epodunk.com/counties/oh_county.html It has great information for not only Hamilton Co., but all other Ohio Counties too. Marilyn - List Mom

Marilyn, Either as adults or children is great. Lilian is the wife of William(jr). I don't know who Olive's parents are. I believe that William's(sr) father is John Wymer. I don't know who John's parents are either. I appreciate all the help. I've been looking for months on this family and haven't gotten very far. This group has given me at least half of what I've got. Thanks a bunch. Lisa
I really appreciate it. Lisa

Lisa, Do you want information on them as children or adults? Is Lillian Samuel's wife? There's a Samuel WYMER in the household of Wm. and Olive that I just sent you for 1900 that is about the correct age and is born Aug. 1893. The 1930 index shows a Lillian WYMER b. 1895 with a husband Carl WYMER and children living in Lawrence Co. Dirk, The death notice for Josef Rother appears in the Cincinnati Enquirer May 31, 1996, Section B, page 4, column 7, and the death notice for Margaret M. Rother appears in the Cincinnati Enquirer August 6, 1992, Section B, page 4, column 5. I am unable to get to the library to get these copies for you; however, if you send an email to marianne.reynolds@cincinnatilibrary.org including the above information I believe she will send these copies to you for a very small fee, but it may take a while. Could someone with Jeffrey Herbert's "Restored Hamilton County Marriages 1850-1859" please look up the marriage date of Charlotte Lauther and Carl/Charles Class?
