    3. Judy, This is recorded for Harry ANDERSON: h/o Marie & s/o John, 58y, 22 Feb 1948, buried in Sec 22 gr 2252 For Marie, the record shows: Marie J., w/o Harry & d/o Adam ZAEH & Louise nee WEISE, born 19 Jan 1888, d. 18 Jul 1960, b. in Sec 22 gr 2253 The Vine Street Record is alphabetized and lookups are relatively easy. Most burial locations are listed, altho some may lack either the Section number, the Lot number or the grave number. Finding out all the names for a particular Lot would be a major job. 1. Are adoption and lunacy records sealed forever?
    2. Hi, I've been trying to obtain adoption records in Hamilton County, Ohio. The clerk told me that they are sealed forever. Is this a new rule? I thought it was only for 75 years. This ancestor's adoption was about 1881. Also, I've tried to get a "lunacy" court record on one of my great grandfathers and was told that these are sealed forever also. The lunacy record is also from about 1881. Could someone tell me if this is Ohio law or are the clerks in error? Could different counties have different rules on adoption and lunacy records? Thanks for any help! Sincerely, Susan E. Davis

    3. The death records on microfilm at the main library are indexed by year. You need to check the index to get the certificate number. The actual rolls of film for the death certificates are first by year of death and then by certificate number. They did have them from Dec 1908 thru 1944. I'm not sure about contact information, fees or how long to expect a response from the library. The Ohio Historical Society in Columbus has them indexed from Dec 1908 thru 1954, but only have certificates on film thru 1953. There it is a $6 fee per certificate request. You can check their website for any other contact information. I've come across many variations of the name including Tipit, Tippit, Tippet and Tippett. My grandmother was a Tippett. Best Regards, John Otto Va. 1. Re:cemetery bks, also HERRING/FESS
    2. Thanks for responding, Bev. There appear to have been Hennings, Herren/Herrons, Herrings, etc. My Barbara Herring married Henry Fess in 1849 I think & their marriage record has her as "Herron;" others have interpreted it Herren, Hennon. It was really Herring though. She was the daughter of Jacob HERRING and Mary Magdalene FISHER. Interestingly, this brings up a question. In the 1850 census Barbara and Henry are listed as Fests; two homes away is Barbara's family; however the mother's name is given as Lana. Does anyone know if this Lana is the same as Mary, just a nickname or something? Jacob Herring was in Perry county before going to Hamilton county (like 1820 in Perry), along with his brother Bernard. Think Jacob and Bernard's father was Johnannes/John Herring. Does anyone on the list descend fromthis line? The Herrings originally came from Pennsylvania, before that Alsace/Germany (going by memory so hope I have that right). Good luck with your Hennings, Bev! Pavla Chandler
